Frequently Asked Questions about Hypnosis Training
Question | Answer |
---|---|
Why train with us? | Our curriculum is NGH-approved and based on evidence-based techniques in the field of hypnotism. Classes are intentionally kept small, providing individual attention and a supportive community. Students often report personal growth and self-improvement in addition to learning how to help others. Upon completion, you’ll have the tools to begin working in the field immediately, plus opportunities for advanced study. Training is offered LIVE online and on-site simultaneously. Graduates also receive ongoing support via email, webinar, social media, text, and phone. Marketing, legal, and ethical practices are included in the program. |
Do I need a license to practice hypnosis? | In most states, hypnosis is not a licensed profession. You will receive NGH Certification, but it is important to check the requirements in your state at www.ngh.net. |
What will my certification enable me to do? | After completing your training and earning NGH certification as a Consulting Hypnotist or Hypnotherapist, you may earn your living in these fields, provided you comply with the laws of the state or country where you practice. |
What kind of organization is the NGH? | The National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH), with over 12,000 members worldwide, is the largest and most prestigious hypnosis-certifying organization. It hosts annual educational conferences in Marlborough, Massachusetts, and Las Vegas, Nevada, with over 1,500 participants. The NGH also provides resources including a lending library, referrals, legislative support, and local meetings. |
What are the annual re-certification requirements? | NGH requires 15 CEUs per year (1 hour = 1 CEU). Opportunities to earn CEUs are provided at no cost. |
What kind of exam must I pass? | Certification requires passing an open-book exam. Class participation is also factored into evaluation. After one year of practice, you may take the NGH Board Exam, earning “Board Certified” status upon successful completion. |
How long does it take to get certified? | The program requires 75 hours of face-to-face classroom instruction and supervised practice, plus approximately 25 hours of practice and reading as homework assignments. |
Can I train online? | Yes! We offer LIVE Online Training that allows you to participate in real-time interactive classes from anywhere in the world. |
Are the courses tax deductible? | Yes. Treasury Regulation 1.1625 allows a tax deduction for educational expenses—including tuition, travel, meals, and lodging—for courses that improve or maintain employment-related skills. A tuition receipt with our EIN will be provided for your tax return. |
